Rotterdam Pride

Behind Europe’s Rainbow Curtain | Rotterdam Pride Conference

With the war in Ukraine there is a lot of focus on refugees right now, but what about LGBTQIA+, bipoc or non-European refugees? Where the the doors immediately opened for (cis, white and hetero) Ukrainians, it's a different story for the LGBTQIA+, non-European and/or bipoc refugees.

We’ll start the talk with Ilvy Njiokiktjien who traveled to Ukraine as a photographer to document how the war affected the LGBTQIA+ community. What did she see there? And what is the actual state of LGBTQIA+ rights in Ukraine? Then we'll talk with Joy, Erica and Bruno, three queer and non-European refugees who will take us through their own stories of where they came from, their journey and future.

This program is a collaboration with LGBT Asylum Support, the Gaykrant and Oxfam Novib.
During Pink Saturday, Ilvy Njiokiktjien's work is in Oxfam Novib's expo on the Coolsingel.

This event will be spoken in English.
